EXCITEMENT BUILDING FOR SECOND ROUND OF MOTHER OF NATION CHAMPIONSHIP

Having evolved into a leading women’s tournament, the Mother of Nation Championship will be contested over three rounds and boasts of a total prize fund of AED 300,000

Abu Dhabi, UAE – February 3, 2020: Abu Dhabi’s Mubarak Bin Mohammed Sports Hall will host the second round of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) organized Mother of Nation Championship on Saturday, February 8. The Mother of Nation Championship has evolved into a premier tournament for female Jiu-Jitsu athletes and the Championship has attained the standing of a reputed women’s sporting platform.

The Mother of Nation Championship will be contested in three categories – Juveniles (under-16 years), youth (under-18 years), and adults (over-18 years) and will be open to women athletes. The Championship will be administered and adjudicated by an all-women’s technical and medical team.

Samira Murshid Al Rumaithi, member of the UAEJJF’s Board of Directors, said that the Mother of Nation Championship is a vital event on the UAEJJF’s annual calendar and is a tournament that has always attracted a healthy crop of athletes and spectators.

“The UAE’s women athletes have a long and shining history of bringing glory to the nation and through this platform of the Mother of Nation Championship, the UAEJJF would like to ensure that a growing number of women athletes get access to high-quality competitions and the opportunity to consistently bring glory to the country.

This Championship brought to fruition through the constant efforts of our wise and visionary leadership is a way of enabling the UAE’s women to strive for excellence and to aid their overall development through the sport of Jiu-Jitsu.”

The Mother of Nation Championship has attracted a strong response from the Jiu-Jitsu community and will be played over three rounds, all of them to be held at Abu Dhabi’s Mubarak Bin Mohammed Sports Hall. A total prize fund of AED 300,000 for the Championship has been announced by the UAEJJF.
